My First Animation Project

        This is my very first animation project, which I am very proud of. It took me about a class and a half to finish. I was absent the day that the project was started, so I had to follow my friend's instructions, which weren't very good.

        Using frame animation on Adobe Photoshop is very different to what I am used to. It requires more layers than I can count and is more time consuming than just editing photos.

         I think I did very well except for the fact that my ball and ground look 2D. My friend said to use the radial gradient, but it wasn't pleasing to the eyes, so I used linear. It didn't turn out quite right, but I was on a time limit.

Social Media and School Combine.

What Do You Mean?

         Did you know that social media can affect your personal life? Of course you did! But what most people don't know is how it can affect your school life too. I'm not just talking about your friends following you on Instagram or you finding out your teacher has a Facebook. I'm talking about how it can hurt your chances of getting into the college you want. It's pretty nerve racking.

Overview

        Yesterday, E9 read an article titled "They loved your GPA, then they saw your Tweets" by Natasha Singer of the New York Times. This article talks about how some colleges will check potential students' social media sites to help decide whether they want to accept them or not. Pretty scary, isn't it? especially for someone like me who has big plans for her future.

Surprises,  Surprises 

        Some things were really surprising to me. I would have thought more admission officers would check someone's social media. According to the article, out of 381 schools, only 31 percent said the looked at a potential students Facebook or other website. That's at least 118 schools. On top of that, 30 percent said they had found something offensive on an applicant's page.

Really? Are You Sure About That?

         I'm not the smartest person around, so parts of this article where highly confusing. One of the big things that bothered me was the fact that the applicant is not usually notified about the troubling material found online. What good does that do? Wouldn't being told help get the idea into their head that they need to change their online personality?

What do I Think of My Social Media?

        I'm pretty okay with my personality online. I have a Facebook and Instagram. I don't post on my Facebook, but I am constantly updating my Instagram. I have two accounts, a personal and and anime themed one. I try to keep them appropriate even though some of my followers aren't. I would and could change a few things if I had to though.

My Personal Logo

         We have been working with colors and shape psychology lately and one of our assignments was to create a personal logo. I made several different sketches and attempted to make them on Adobe Illustrator. The one I chose was a spur of the moment idea that I decided to play around with.

          My process wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be. I started out with a perfect circle. I changed the color of the stroke and made it wider. I did this with the other three. Next, I drew a line down the center and created an L. The whole reason the L is off center is because it represents the instability that goes on in life, especially mine. The colors represent me because they are my favorite color.

         I learned that Adobe can be really tough to work with. I was constantly looking up internet tutorial on how to make certain shapes. This took me roughly a class period to finish.

         This assignment will definitely help me the future projects because I learned with my drafts how to make right triangles and the like. Overall, this was a fun, but challenging project.

E-Comm Posters

Yesterday, My class split up into groups to make posters for the different guarantees for E-Comm. My group made a poster for "Collaboration."  Here in the photo, you see a partially built E-Comm logo, a beautifully drawn crane, and the scaffold I drew. Ugly ain't it? Our idea came from the way construction workers work together to build something amazing!  

My Three Personal Connections to Graphic Design

      I have been working with graphic design since I was young, making birthday cards and posters for my room on Microsoft Publisher. My mom has a degree in journalism and has helped me progress with making flyers and the like. I have made posters and programs for the theater program at Oregon Trail. Below is one of the promotional flyers I made for the Oregon Trail Production of Drama Geeks v.s. Zombie Cheerleaders.

     I have discovered that graphic design is everywhere in our everyday lives, from the food we buy to billboards, I used to only think flyers and stuff were consider GD. According to the website I found graphic design is very strategical  and planned out.

Color Theory- Pretty Color Wheel

We are working with color theory in Graphic Design. This is my second color wheel with my own design.

I shaped the petals myself and cut them in half in order to do this. I used the ellipse shape to form them.

It may look super simple, but it was a really hard journey to get it the way I wanted. One example would be that the red and green petals all used to be one shape. I split them down the middle with the knife tool in Adobe Illustrator. The black circle covers the ugly knife marks.
